Analysis and prevention of dump truck rollover accident

Aug 12, 2022

Dump truck is an indispensable tool in engineering construction, but the high chassis of the dump truck means that it has a high center of gravity and poor stability. This requires drivers to pay more attention to traffic safety and drive prudently when driving.

Dump truck accidents are mainly caused by the following aspects: the vehicle load is too large, the center of gravity is too high, the frame is too narrow, the speed is too fast, the turn is too sharp, etc. For example, in the process of unloading a dump truck, the overturning of the carriage tends to overturn due to the offset of the center of gravity, which is the most common rollover accident of the dump truck. In addition to the objective factor that the center of gravity of the dump truck is relatively high, the important reasons for the rollover are that the driver turns too fast when changing lanes, or the vehicle is too fast when passing curves or slopes, causing the center of gravity to suddenly lose control, causing a rollover accident.

The reasons for dump truck rollover mainly include the following aspects:

1. The ground at the dumping site is uneven and has a large slope.

2. The ground at the dumping site should not be soft ground.

3. The material loading in the carriage is uneven.

4. Before the unloading operation, the driver fails to strictly abide by the safety operation rules of the dump truck, that is, the unloading operation can only be carried out after the parking brake is applied.

5. The unloading location has poor visibility.

● Preventive measures:

1. Ensure that the vehicle is in a good technical state, such as the lifting cylinder and its connection parts are firm and reliable, the floor of the carriage is flat, and the rear self-locking switch is sensitive and reliable.

2. Ensure that the goods are loaded evenly, and overloading is prohibited.

3. When the driver chooses the unloading location, try to choose a flat and solid location.

4. When the driver lifts the carriage, lift at an appropriate speed to avoid overspeed lifting.

5. Regularly use machinery such as loaders to level and compact the unloading site.
