Rainy day driving skills

● maintain a good vision

1

When driving on the road in rainy days, in addition to driving cautiously, turn on the wipers in time, and turn on the low beam and anti-fog lights when the weather is dark. If there is frost on the front windshield, turn on the air conditioner and blow the air conditioner to the front windshield.

● Prevent wheels from slipping

When driving in the rain, the rain on the road will make the braking performance of the vehicle worse, and it is easy to cause sideslip. Therefore, the driver should maintain a straight line and drive at a low speed. When turning, he should brake slowly to prevent the tire from locking and causing the vehicle to slide. If it is a front wheel sideslip, the direction should be corrected in the opposite direction of the sideslip. If it is a rear wheel sideslip, correct the direction towards the side of the sideslip, not the opposite direction.

● Drive slowly in low gear

Experienced drivers know that no matter the width of the road or the condition of the road, try to use the second or third gear when driving in the rain, and the speed should not exceed 30 kilometers or 40 kilometers per hour. Always pay attention to the distance between the front and rear vehicles and your own vehicle, and prepare for various emergency measures in advance. When you need to stop, try to slow down and brake lightly about 100 meters in advance, so that the car coming behind has enough emergency preparation time to avoid collision or rear-end collision caused by excessive braking.

● Prevent wading and sinking

2

When the car passes through a road with a large area of water, the first is to stop and check the depth of the water. The easiest way is that the water depth should not exceed the height of the exhaust pipe. If it exceeds, you should choose other routes to detour. If the water depth only submerges at least half of the tires, you can go straight in the first gear at a low speed, and do not stop, shift or turn sharply in the middle to prevent the vehicle from stalling and the engine being damaged due to operational errors.

 ● It is not advisable to accelerate overtaking

When driving in the rain, always pay attention to the speed and direction of the vehicle in front, and never speed up and overtake because the vehicle in front is slow. Especially on highways, due to the relatively high speed of each lane, the driver's viewing angle is narrowed, and the road surface is slippery. When forcibly crossing the line and overtaking, a slight movement of the direction can easily cause the wheels to slip, which can easily cause collision with other vehicles. Accidents such as vehicle rollover occur due to scratches.

● Prevent pedestrians from being hit while driving

3

Due to the limited vision, hearing, and reaction of pedestrians in the rain, drivers should slow down and whistle more, be patient to avoid them, choose a safe place to stop if necessary, and must not rush with pedestrians and bicycles to avoid knocking down pedestrians.

● Self-rescue methods for vehicles stuck in mud pits

When it rains or when driving on dirt roads, it is common to encounter the situation where the wheels get stuck in mud puddles. Once this happens, you can use first gear or reverse gear, and tentatively step on the accelerator slowly. When the vehicle can move forward or backward, keep the position of the accelerator pedal unchanged, and drive out of the muddy road at low speed. If the vehicle cannot move forward and backward, you can put stones, bricks, wooden boards or branches before and after the driving wheels to increase the adhesion between the wheels and the ground.
