How to tell if a turbocharger is leaking oil?

①The oil of the turbocharger comes from the main oil passage of the engine. Because one side of the turbocharger is the high temperature of the engine exhaust, the oil enters the floating bearing cavity from here, and takes away the heat and flows back to the oil bottom through the oil return pipe. The oil leakage flows into the intake and exhaust cavities from the floating bearings at both ends.

②Other reasons for oil leakage are the blockage of the oil fume separator of the engine valve cover, which causes the crankcase pressure to be high, and the oil return pipe of the turbocharger cannot return the oil smoothly, causes oil to enter the intake/exhaust chamber of the turbocharger from the floating bearing.

③ If the intake and exhaust pressure is blocked, the air filter element is dirty, and the exhaust is not smooth (the exhaust brake valve does not return, the muffler is blocked), it will form a negative pressure on the compressor and turbine casing, and oil will also leak from the bearing.

④If the axial and radial clearance of the impeller shaft is too large, it will also cause oil leakage.
