Precautions for the use of gas trucks

Jul 17, 2024

Many truckers will have doubts about the safety of gas trucks when they buy them, in fact, the technology of gas trucks has been quite mature, whether it is the gas tank or the whole car has gone through multiple safety verification, so you can rest assured about the safety.

However, due to its special characteristics, a series of problems need to be paid attention to in daily driving, safety protection and maintenance.

Before filling, it is also necessary to check whether there is any leakage in the connecting parts, if so, it must be tightened, and it can be filled with liquid only after there is no leakage. The cylinder filled with liquid should be used as soon as possible and long-term storage is prohibited.

Replenish the fuel at the filling station as soon as 10%-15% of fuel is left, otherwise there may be insufficient gas supply pressure, which may cause the engine not to be used normally or the use process to be unstable, and in serious cases, it may also affect the safety of driving.

The safety valve must not be blocked under any circumstances, and the safety valve and pressure gauge need to be checked regularly, and if problems are found, they need to be replaced immediately. If the valve freezes, it should be thawed with clean, oil-free warm water before operation, and should not be struck with hard objects.

Once stopped for more than 10 hours, all shut-off valves on the cylinders must be closed, and the waterproof tape and dustproofing of all components must not be opened freely, and it is recommended that the liquid in the cylinders be stored for no more than 5 days.

When driving to 2500-3000 kilometers, the cylinder strap nuts and frame fasteners must be retightened for the first time, with the retightening torque referring to the maintenance instructions, and then retightening the cylinder bracket connecting nut every 5000 kilometers.

For the first time of filling, all pipeline joints should be checked and re-tightened for tightness. Check and retighten every 5,000 kilometers or every month thereafter (whichever comes first), or when there is a leak alarm. Once any leakage is found, it must be repaired and replaced immediately.

Cylinder fastening straps, pressure gauges, safety valves, etc. need to be serviced, calibrated, and replaced on a regular basis in accordance with the maintenance manual.

If a fire occurs, you can use a dry powder fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire. You cannot spray water directly onto the LNG liquid, as it will cause the gas to evaporate in large quantities and increase the fire.

Of course, different OEMs, different models of maintenance manuals on maintenance intervals there may be some differences, the above is only for reference.
