Reasonable configuration, truck fuel-saving skills

There are a lot of factors that affect fuel consumption, so there are a lot of things you can do to save fuel.

The influence of engine economic speed on fuel consumption

Every car has its own economic speed. Whether the engine speed is within the economic speed has a great impact on fuel consumption, as shown in the following figure:

1

Therefore, when driving, try to avoid accelerating sharply, because it will consume more than ten or even dozens of milliliters of diesel.

Effect of Gear on Fuel Consumption

At high speed, of course, the higher the gear, the more fuel economy! See the following figure for details:

2(1)

As you can see:

1) each gear has a minimum fuel consumption speed range

2) no matter how the speed changes, the fuel consumption curve in the high gear is always below the low gear. In other words, the fuel consumption in the high gear is always lower than that in the low gear

3) look carefully at the premise, the speed must be above 60KM/h in order to meet this fuel consumption curve

The effect of vehicle speed on fuel consumption:

First, taking 65,70,75,80,85,90,90 + as speed nodes, because the relationship between speed and wind resistance is square times, the faster the speed, the more wind resistance will increase sharply, fuel consumption has soared.

Second, drive safely at a constant speed in traffic conditions. If you repeatedly accelerate or decelerate for 100 kilometers, the fuel loss will reach 0.5 to 2 points, so drive at a constant speed as much as possible.

The effect of tires on fuel consumption:

1) tire pressure

According to NHTSA, increasing the tire pressure from 166.6 KPA to 215.6 KPA reduces rolling resistance by 30 percent and fuel consumption by 3 percent, but you shouldn't set the tire pressure too high during summer driving.

2) tread patterns

It has been proved that the rolling resistance of the truck can be reduced by 15-30% and the fuel consumption can be reduced by 3-5% when the truck is loaded with Radial tire compared with ordinary tyres. Therefore, the use of Radial tire is recommended, the upfront purchase cost of the increase can greatly reduce the later operating costs.

The influence of transmission ratio on fuel consumption:

Transmission ratio should be the most important consideration when choosing a car, if not the right speed ratio, then the later fuel consumption may be scary. If it is often in the long-distance and highway driving, the total weight of vehicles and goods not more than 50 tons, should choose the speed ratio of 3.5 or less.

If it was a heavy-duty vehicle, such as a construction dump truck, it would have to choose a speed ratio of more than 4.2. Otherwise, a car with a low speed ratio would be difficult to start, and could only increase the accelerator to make the car move. In this way, the fuel would be lost quite severely!

The effect of vehicle horsepower on fuel consumption

Many people think that high-powered cars also consume more fuel, but this is a myth. Horsepower is usually combined with the overall speed ratio of the vehicle, can not be discussed separately.

Because research shows that the most fuel-consuming phase of heavy truck is the car at the start, acceleration and climbing state, not in a uniform, high-speed driving state. With a high horsepower engine and a high reserve power, the vehicle can quickly enter a high-speed driving state when the throttle is not very high, and then when the vehicle is driving at a high speed, combined with a low-speed-ratio rear axle and a gearbox overdrive, a high-horsepower engine can get you over 90 miles an hour, even at low revs.

Therefore, as long as equipped with a low-speed ratio rear axle and a gearbox with overdrive, the high-horsepower engine is more fuel-efficient than the low-horsepower engine.

Effect of Load on Fuel Consumption:
In order to make a single trip to bring more profit, some drivers will overload the transport. Setting aside road fines, reduced vehicle life expectancy, increased risk, lower freight rates, and reduced vehicle reliability, in terms of fuel consumption and tyre wear, overloading is not necessarily more profitable for truckers. If the overload is 25% , the fuel consumption of 100 kilometers will increase by at least 2 liters.

The effect of maintenance on fuel consumption

The internal loss of the engine and the energy loss of the transmission system together account for almost 85% of the energy loss. There is a large part of the loss is the mechanical parts of the friction generated. Therefore, the use of good lubricants, good maintenance for reducing the vehicle fuel consumption is of great significance. Trailers should also use as much good butter as possible so that the glide distance can be increased by at least 20% . Fuel economy is at least 10% .

The influence of draft shield on fuel consumption:
When driving at high speed on the highway, the energy loss caused by air resistance is up to 16% . Therefore, for the truck often driving fast, the installation of the fairing for fuel consumption is very significant. For vehicles with draft shield, fuel consumption can be reduced by at least 2l per 100km.
