Do you know how to take care of your vehicle's eyes?

When it comes to car maintenance, 90% of people naturally think about interior and engine maintenance, overlooking an important component of the vehicle - car light maintenance. As a result, car light maintenance becomes a blind spot in car maintenance. So, what aspects should be considered when it comes to car light maintenance? What basic knowledge is required for car light maintenance?
Car lights, comparable to the eyes of a vehicle, serve as the display of the driver's intentions, particularly in the darkness of the night when they can guide your way forward. Therefore, it is essential to maintain the vehicle's "eyes." Checking for burnt-out bulbs in the exterior lights is a quick and simple task. However, conducting comprehensive and systematic maintenance of the exterior lights is not as straightforward. Timely maintenance of the exterior lights is crucial for drivers because it not only affects the comfort of driving but also directly relates to driving safety.
Front headlights
Generally speaking, drivers who often drive at night should consider replacing a pair of higher brightness headlights. This way, on pitch black nights, sufficient brightness can help you see all the details of the road surface, and when driving high beams, it can also allow you to see further. If conditions permit, you can even replace a pair of xenon headlights. Xenon headlights not only have sufficient brightness and long lifespan, but also have one characteristic: the color temperature is very high, and the color temperature close to sunlight is also a protection for the driver's eyes.
Fog lamp
Fog lights, also known as spotlights, are commonly used. The main purpose of fog lights is to ensure the driver's visibility in harsh weather and ensure that others can also see you. However, many manufacturers now install fog lights only to make the front bumper more beautiful, so the quality of the fog lights used is relatively low. Like front headlights, in addition to replacing fog lights with sufficient brightness, choosing a pair of xenon fog lights is also a good choice.
Tail lights
Don't underestimate the taillights. If the taillights fail, it is highly likely to cause a rear end collision. Generally speaking, as long as it is not a malfunction, there are not many options for upgrading the tail lights. In addition to installing a transparent lamp housing to increase viewing quality, replacing traditional light bulbs with LED light emitting bodies is a good choice. LED not only increases brightness, but also shortens response time compared to traditional light bulbs. This means that when you press the brake pedal, the LED brake lights can light up earlier than regular light bulbs, giving tailgating vehicles more preparation time.
Whether it is the front or rear headlights, as long as they do not light up, it indicates that the bulb has been burned out and must be replaced. But if it is not completely broken, but only the brightness decreases, and the lights turn red and dim, it must not be taken lightly, because this may be a precursor to a malfunction, and the reduced lighting capacity is also a major hazard for safe driving.
There are several reasons for the decrease in brightness, the most common of which is the accumulation of dust and dirt on the astigmatic glass or reflector of the lamp. At this time, all that needs to be done is to use a flannel or lens paper to remove the dirt. Another reason is that the charging capacity of the battery decreases, resulting in insufficient power and insufficient brightness. In this case, a new battery needs to be replaced. Another possibility is that the circuit is aging or the wires are too thin, causing an increase in resistance and affecting power supply. This situation not only affects the operation of the light bulb, but can even lead to overheating of the circuit and cause a fire.
