Concrete pump truck operation precautions

Nov 03, 2025

1. Concrete pump trucks can only be used for conveying concrete. Any other use (such as lifting heavy objects) is dangerous.

2. The height and distance of the concrete pumping boom of the pump truck are strictly calculated and experimentally confirmed. It is not allowed to connect any pipes to the end hose or extend the end hose by more than 3m. The operator shall bear the risks arising therefrom.

3. Unauthorized modifications to the pump truck that may affect safety are prohibited, including changing safety pressure or operating speed settings; using larger diameter delivery pipes or increasing pipe wall thickness; altering control programs or wiring; and modifications to the boom and outriggers, etc.

Support Safety Precautions

1. The supporting ground must be level. Otherwise, it is necessary to create a level supporting surface. It cannot be supported on a cavity.

2. The pump truck must be supported on a solid ground. If the maximum pressure of the outriggers exceeds the allowable pressure of the ground, support plates or auxiliary square timbers must be used to increase the support surface area.

3. When the pump truck is supported near a pit or slope, a sufficient safety distance should be maintained.

4. When supporting the machine, ensure that the entire machine is level and that the maximum horizontal deviation of the machine in all directions does not exceed 3 degrees.

5. When the outriggers are extended or retracted, the area within which the outriggers rotate is a danger zone, and personnel within this area may be trapped and injured.

6. When supporting the vehicle, all outriggers must be extended and retracted to the specified positions (the arrows on the outriggers and outrigger lugs should be aligned, and the arrows on the front outrigger arms and the extended front outrigger arms should be aligned). Otherwise, there is a risk of tipping over.

7. The outriggers must be properly supported before operating the boom, and the outriggers must be retracted only after the boom has been folded up and placed on the main boom support.

8. If any factors that reduce stability occur, the boom must be immediately retracted, the problem eliminated, and the boom re-supported as required. Factors that reduce stability include changes in ground conditions caused by rain, snow, or other water sources.

Safety precautions for extension booms

1. The boom can only be operated after confirming that the outriggers of the pump truck are properly supported. The boom operation must be carried out in the order specified in the operating procedures.

2. Booms must not be used during thunderstorms or severe weather.

3. When operating the boom, the entire boom should be within the operator's field of vision.

4. When working near high-voltage lines, be careful of the risk of electric shock and ensure a safe distance between the boom and the power lines.

5. The area under the boom is a danger zone, where concrete or other parts may fall and injure people.

6. No one may stand within the designated area of the end hose. The end hose must not be guided during pump truck startup, as it may swing and injure people or cause accidents due to sprayed concrete. The danger zone during pump startup is the area surrounding the swinging end hose. The diameter of this zone is twice the length of the end hose. If the maximum length of the end hose is 3m, then the diameter of the danger zone is 6m.

7. Do not bend the end hose, and the end hose must not be inserted into the concrete.

8. If the boom exhibits abnormal movement, immediately press the emergency stop button. Use should only resume after a professional has identified and resolved the cause.

Pumping and Maintenance Safety Precautions

1. When the pump truck is running, do not open the safety protection facilities such as the hopper screen and water tank cover, and do not put your hands into the hopper or water tank or grab other moving parts.

2. During pumping, it is essential to ensure that the concrete in the hopper is above the position of the foot plate shaft to prevent concrete spraying caused by the intake of air.

3. When the pipe is blocked, the pump must be reversed to release the pressure in the pipe before the concrete delivery pump pipe can be disassembled.

4. Maintenance and repair work can only be carried out when the truck is placed on a stable ground and it is ensured that it will not move unexpectedly.

5. Maintenance and repair work can only be carried out when the boom is retracted or reliably supported, the engine is off, and the outriggers are secured.

6. Before performing maintenance, the machine must be stopped and the accumulator pressure released.

7. If the boom hydraulic lock is opened without first securing the boom, there is a risk of the boom falling and injuring people.
