Don’t do the following when maintaining your truck

▎Open the radiator cap while the engine is hot

When adding coolant or other liquids, the engine must be turned off, otherwise people may be scalded by splashed coolant or high-temperature steam, which will also have an adverse effect on the truck body. The correct way is to wait for the engine to cool down, release the pressure before opening the cover, and take protective measures such as using a wet towel.

In addition, it should be noted that the coolant level should be between full and low, otherwise it is necessary to add coolant (remember not to add water), and the liquid level after adding should not exceed the full level. If the coolant is found to be reduced quickly in a short period of time, check the cooling system for leaks or go to the repair station for inspection.

▎Adding engine oil but not changing it

Engine oil plays a very important role in the engine. Generally, after a certain mileage, the engine oil will deteriorate and need to be replaced. But when the engine oil has not deteriorated and the truck already needs maintenance, what will be the impact of adding engine oil? 

Adding oil to old oil is equivalent to mixing the deteriorated oil with new oil, which will reduce the lubrication, friction reduction and cooling effect on the engine. In the long run, the engine will wear more seriously. Therefore, the oil needs to be changed regularly to effectively maintain the engine.

▎Tire pressure is too high

Tire pressure has a great impact on vehicle driving. When maintaining the vehicle, you should not only consider the degree of tire wear. Too high or too low tire pressure will affect the service life of the tire. Therefore, you should pay more attention to the tire pressure during daily vehicle use. 

The scientific inflation standard should be based on the standard air pressure given by the manufacturer. If the vehicle manufacturer has no special regulations, no special adjustments are required in winter or summer. The tire pressure is set mainly based on the weight of the truck body, chassis height, etc.

▎Wear gloves when touching rotating parts 

When inspecting the vehicle, be sure not to let the gloves get tangled in parts with burrs (such as cooling fans, belts, etc.), otherwise it will cause harm to yourself. Therefore, drivers should try not to wear gloves when touching rotating parts, and tie up their cuffs and clothes.
