How to deal with DPF blockage, speed limit and torque limit?
Dec 21, 2024
DPF is a filtering device installed in the engine exhaust system, which is used to reduce the particulate matter in the exhaust gas. Therefore, during the working process, the filtered particulate matter will be stored in the filter.
When particulate matter reaches a certain limit, it needs to be dealt with in time. This process is called DPF regeneration, which is actually to burn the captured particulate matter again to form carbon dioxide and emit it. This process is divided into active regeneration and passive regeneration.
When there is a problem with the DPF, the corresponding indicator light on the dashboard will light up. Different indicator lights require different operations, and the indicator light design varies from vehicle to vehicle.
If the DPF carbon deposit indicator light flashes, it means manual regeneration is required. So what should truck drivers do?
First of all, make sure the vehicle is parked in a safe and reliable area, away from flammable and explosive materials, keep the vehicle completely still, pull the handbrake and shift to neutral, and turn off the air conditioner. Keep the vehicle in a warm-up idle state, then press the DPF regeneration switch. When the regeneration light comes on, you can feel a significant increase in engine speed, which means DPF regeneration has begun.
The whole process takes about 40-60 minutes, during which the engine speed will change. When the indicator light goes out and the speed returns to idle, it means the regeneration is over.
During the DPF regeneration process, the driver needs to pay attention to the exhaust pipe without leakage; it is forbidden to step on the brakes, clutch, etc. during the regeneration process, otherwise the regeneration will be temporarily interrupted. In addition, it must be remembered that in non-emergency situations, manual operation is prohibited to interrupt the regeneration to prevent damage to the DPF. If the regeneration still cannot be started after multiple operations, you need to go to the service station to solve the problem.
