What to do when the car engine fault light comes on
Nov 20, 2024
When the car fault light is on, you should immediately park the car in a safe area and check it to avoid affecting the normal driving of other vehicles. The engine fault light on does not always mean that the engine is faulty, you need to distinguish it.
There are many reasons why the engine fault light comes on, but among these many reasons for engine failure, emission failure and operational errors account for a large proportion.
Causes of emission failure:
Poor gasoline quality leads to substandard emissions testing;
Poor air quality leads to premature carbon deposits;
Damage to the oxygen sensor;
Failure of the spark plug or nozzle leads to incomplete combustion, etc.
Causes of non-impact operational errors:
The fuel tank cap is not closed;
The throttle valve is not cleared by the computer after cleaning;
A plug is not plugged in tightly after modification or repair;
The engine fault light is on for no reason, etc.
If it is an emission fault, the mixture is not burned completely, and the power will be slightly insufficient. If it is an operational fault with no impact, it will have little or no impact on driving.
When the engine fault light comes on, if it is a major fault, it will be accompanied by engine weakness, severe vibration, high water temperature, and multiple fault lights on the dashboard. At this time, you need to stop the vehicle, turn off the engine, and wait for professional rescue.
If only the engine fault light is on and everything else is normal, you can leave it alone and drive for a while, and it may go out automatically. If the fault light does not go out, you can drive to a repair station to fix it.
