Four major mistakes in electricity usage
Jul 25, 2023
As an important component of starting vehicles, the battery has a universal service life of about 2-3 years. However, in actual use, some people do not need to replace their batteries for up to 5 years, which is closely related to their personal maintenance habits.

Maintenance-free battery ≠ No Maintenance
The so-called maintenance free is only due to its structural advantages, the consumption of electrolyte is very small, and during its service life, there is basically no need to supplement distilled water like old batteries did before. Maintenance-free does not mean that batteries do not require maintenance, and daily usage and maintenance are closely related to their lifespan.
The following four incorrect usage methods can damage the battery
Most people use an inverter by adding it to the cigarette lighter socket to power high-power electrical devices. Short-term occasional use may not have much impact, but long-term use will not only put the circuit under high load, but also greatly affect the life of the battery. In addition, it is highly likely to cause circuit failures.
Not turning off electrical equipment before turning off the engine: In daily driving, many people do not turn off electrical equipment such as air conditioning and multimedia before turning off the engine. When the vehicle is restarted, these systems will automatically turn on, which inadvertently causes the vehicle's instantaneous power load to be too high. This can lead to excessive battery wear and tear over time.
After the engine is turned off, the car's generator does not work, and the battery is in a state of "self-discharge" without charging. The reduction in its capacity may make it impossible for the vehicle to start, and over-discharging can cause significant damage to the battery itself.
Frequent attempts to start the engine in winter: In winter, due to various factors such as climate, vehicles may not start immediately. Many people do not actively seek the cause, but instead repeatedly attempt to start the engine. This can cause the starter motor to consume a lot of electricity and cause the battery to be over-discharged.
It can be reminded that in winter, if the battery voltage is insufficient, you can try pouring hot water, and after pouring hot water, butter should be applied to the positive and negative poles to avoid oxidation reaction at the battery pile head.
Leaving the main power switch on: Many people experience battery drain when their cars are parked for a long time, which can prevent the vehicle from starting. However, most trucks now have a main power switch designed next to the battery, but some people forget to turn it off when they use the vehicle, which can cause the battery to drain.
In fact, most of the time, "maintenance-free" does not really mean that no maintenance is required, but rather "longer maintenance intervals". Maintenance-free products only have longer maintenance intervals compared to products at the same level. The operating conditions of the battery and other vehicle components are closely related to the user's daily maintenance.
