What is a spiral tube?

A spiral pipe is a spiral shaped pipeline that connects a tractor to a trailer, usually made of materials such as rubber, plastic, or nylon. Due to its spiral shape, it has good stretchability. Even when the angle between the towing vehicle and the trailer changes greatly, the spiral tube can ensure normal connection and will not be pulled off due to insufficient length.

The role of spiral tubes

In general, there are at least three spiral pipes, two air circuits, and one circuit between the main suspension. One air pipe is responsible for inputting compressed air into the trailer's air reservoir, while the other pipe is responsible for controlling the braking action. The circuit spiral tube is generally responsible for the circuit connection of tail lamp, turn signal lamp, reversing lamp and brake lamp. There is also a special ABS signal spiral tube for the trailer with ABS, which is responsible for the connection of ABS signals.

Installation and use

There are three points that everyone should pay attention to during normal use:

1、 During installation, the connectors at both ends should be securely installed to prevent air leakage, otherwise frequent inflation during long parking hours can also result in significant fuel consumption.

2、 The spiral tube will naturally droop during normal use. If the tractor is not protected by a working platform, the spiral tube may droop and be entangled and torn by the transmission shaft, causing accidents. For vehicles with a working platform, it is also possible to hook the tractor components during turns, causing the spiral tube to break.

To avoid these risks, the editor suggests that everyone use an elastic rope in the middle of the spiral tube to make a suspension and lift the spiral tube to prevent sagging. The specific method can be to cut the inner tube into strips and connect them together, or to use a single spiral tube as a suspension, both of which are very practical.

3、 In the harsh winter environment of the north, try to choose products with good flexibility to avoid materials becoming brittle due to low temperature resistance. Once brittle, it is very easy to break and affect driving safety.
