● Daily inspection of dry powder fire extinguishers
The trucks are mostly equipped with dry powder fire extinguishers, and their internal fire extinguishing agent properties are relatively stable. But it is also necessary to avoid strong impact from the tank body and direct sunlight. After storing the fire extinguisher for a period of time, the pressure in the tank will decrease until it disappears. If not checked regularly, this also means that the fire extinguisher on your truck has become a decoration.
It is recommended that truckers check the pressure of fire extinguishers approximately once a month. The pressure gauge on the fire extinguisher has three zones, and the position of the pointer indicates the pressure inside the canister: if the pointer is in the red zone, it indicates low pressure; if the pointer is in the green zone, it indicates normal pressure; if the pointer is in the yellow zone, it indicates high pressure inside the canister. In addition, the expiration date of the fire extinguisher is usually indicated on the canister, and it can be refilled at the fire equipment sales department after expiration for normal use.
● Use of dry powder fire extinguishers
The dry powder fire extinguisher equipped on the truck has the best effect in extinguishing initial fires due to its volume. The most commonly used method of opening dry powder fire extinguishers on trucks is the pressing method, and the specific operation is as follows:
1. After lifting the fire extinguisher to a suitable position from the fire source, invert it several times to loosen the dry powder inside the cylinder.
2. To prevent accidental opening of the fire extinguisher, there will be a safety pin at the pressing position that can be forcefully pulled out during use.
3. Align the nozzle of the dry powder fire extinguisher with the root of the fire source, press down on the handle, and the extinguishing agent will be sprayed out.
The use of dry powder fire extinguishers is relatively simple and generally not a problem for truckers. It is important to regularly check whether the fire extinguisher is effective.
