How to solve a clutch fault? These 4 steps are enough.

▎Clutch slippage
Faults:
1. The vehicle does not start smoothly after shifting to the first gear and releasing the clutch pedal.
When accelerating, the vehicle speed should not increase with the increase of engine speed. You may feel insufficient driving force, and in severe cases, there may be a burnt smell or smoke.
The starting test was performed, and the engine should have stalled, but it did not.
Causes:
The free travel of the clutch pedal is too small or there is no free travel.
The connection between the clutch pressure plate and the flywheel is loose, so that the compression force is weakened.
Serious oil contamination between the release bearing sleeve and the conduit, so that the release bearing cannot return to the position.
The surface of the clutch disc is abraded, hardened or oil contaminated, resulting in reduced clutch friction.
Clutch plate, pressure plate or flywheel working surface is severely worn.
The pressure spring is weak or broken, and the diaphragm spring is weak or cracked, resulting in a decrease in compression force.
Inspection Steps:
①First check whether the free travel of the clutch pedal is appropriate, and adjust it if it is not adapted. (Hydraulic type is mostly self-adjusting),then remove the transmission and disassemble the clutch to check in turn.
② clutch plate, release bearing sleeve and conduit, oil should be cleaned up.
③Check the wear and tear of the clutch disc, pressure plate or flywheel working surface, if the wear and tear is serious, it should be replaced in time.
④Check whether the pressure spring and diaphragm spring are weak, broken or with insufficient elasticity, if they are insufficiently elastic or damaged, they should be replaced in time.
▎Incomplete clutch disengagement
Faults:
When idling, stepping on the clutch pedal, there is a gear impact sound when shifting, and it is difficult to engage.
Sometimes, the gear is reluctantly engaged, but the engine stalls before the clutch pedal is completely released.
Causes:
①The free travel of the clutch pedal is too large.
② Insufficient oil or air intrusion due to leakage in the hydraulic system. (Hydraulic type)
③ The newly replaced clutch disc is too thick or the front and back of the clutch disc are installed incorrectly (the raised side is facing the transmission).
④ Pressure plate steel plate warped, friction plate ruptured or rivets loose.
⑤ The release lever is improperly adjusted or the release lever is bent and deformed, the support is loose, or the support shaft pin comes out, making it difficult to adjust the height of the inner end of the release lever.
Inspection Steps:
①Check whether the free travel of the clutch pedal is appropriate, if the free travel is too large, it should be adjusted.
② Check the hydraulic system piping, pipe joints for oil leakage.
③Check whether the clutch plate is installed in the right direction, if there is deformation or damage, it should be replaced in time.
④ Check whether the release lever is deformed, whether the support is loose, and whether the release lever is properly adjusted.
⑤ Check whether the first shaft of the transmission and the clutch disc fit well together, if they do not fit properly, they should be adjusted in time.
▎Clutch noise
Faults:
When starting or shifting gears, there is an abnormal noise when operating the clutch.
Causes:
①Pedal return spring is too soft, detached or broken.
② Loose rivets or broken damping spring on the clutch plate.
③Severe wear or lack of oil in the release bearing, the bearing return spring is too soft, broken or off.
Inspection Steps:
① If the clutch pedal is pressed down slightly, a "rustling" sound is heard, and the sound disappears after it is lifted, it is the release bearing.
② If it still sounds after lifting the clutch pedal, the bearing is worn loose or damaged and should be replaced;
③ If there is an intermittent thumping sound when the clutch pedal is depressed/lifted, the bearing spring should be replaced;
▎Clutch shuddering when starting the vehicle
Faults:
The vehicle starts normally when put into 1st gear, but there is noticeable shaking in the body.
Causes:
① Clutch pressure plate or clutch disc surface warping, or the follower plate rivets loose;
② The transmission and flywheel case or clutch pressure plate and flywheel fixing bolts are loose;
③ Uneven spring force of the shock absorber on the clutch plate.
Inspection Steps:
① Check whether the transmission and flywheel case, clutch cover and flywheel fixing screws are loose.
② Check whether the height of the diaphragm spring on the clutch pressure plate is consistent.
③ If the above items are in line with the requirements, then remove the clutch, respectively, check whether the pressure plate, clutch plate deformation, rivets are loose, as well as the diaphragm spring spring force is within the allowable range.
