During the operation of the diesel engine, the impurities deposited in the fuel system and the dust suspended in the air will contaminate the diesel fuel, so the fuel filter is essential for vehicles.

Diesel engines mostly use high-pressure common rail fuel system, the system to ensure high-pressure injection, need to accurately control the injection pressure, injection flow and injection time. The workmanship of its accessories is very fine, so the quality of diesel fuel has higher requirements, especially for the control of diesel fuel cleanliness, which is quite harsh.

If there is moisture or impurities inside the diesel fuel, in the long run, it will cause injector high pressure pump damage. The impurities that are not filtered out will directly wear out the parts inside the injector, and the damage to the injector will cause problems such as unstable engine operation, decreased power, increased fuel consumption, etc., affecting the normal operation of the vehicle.

In addition, the high water content of the fuel into the engine, will reduce its combustion efficiency, resulting in engine acceleration weakness. If you add low-quality diesel fuel, its high sulfur content, combustion is easy to react with water to produce sulfuric acid, gradually erode the engine parts over time, reducing the service life of the truck.

Also the high pressure common rail system components are very expensive and quite costly to repair. A comparison, the price of the filter is much lower, reducing the cost of repair.

The oil-water separator, as a kind of fuel filter, can effectively filter out the larger particles of impurities in the fuel and prolong the diesel fuel fine filter replacement mileage.

In addition, it can also separate the water in the fuel and filter out the iron oxide contained in the fuel to improve the fuel quality.

As the first of a multi-stage filtration system, the crude fuel filter filters out impurities of larger particle size and protects the fuel delivery pump. However, many crude filters do not achieve efficient filtration, so adding a set of oil-water separator is a simple and effective method.

So how should an oil-water separator be maintained?

Timely drainage: there is a transparent plastic water storage cup under the oil-water separator, and all the water filtered out is stored in it. It needs to be checked and drained regularly to prevent too much water from accumulating and affecting the effect of the oil-water separator.

Regular replacement: Replace the filter element regularly according to the instructions to maintain the filtering effect of the oil-water separator.

Heating function: When the weather is cold, the filtered water is stored in the water cup for a long time, which is easy to cause icing and clogging of the pipeline, thus leading to the damage of the oil-water separator. You can choose the oil-water separator with electric heating function, so that the oil-water separator can be used normally in cold weather.
