Why does your car air conditioner have poor cooling performance?

Mar 29, 2023

In addition to adjusting the temperature, the on-board air conditioner can also adjust the humidity. Greatly improves driving comfort and makes the cab dry and comfortable.
If, unfortunately, the air conditioner breaks down during the summer, I believe any driver will make it repaired as soon as possible. So what are the reasons for the poor cooling effect of on-board air conditioners?

There are two types of problems with air conditioning: non cooling and poor cooling. Let's start with the case of non cooling.

The air conditioner is mainly composed of a fan, compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. There is also a refrigerant commonly known as refrigerant in the pipeline. The air conditioner itself cannot actually cool, but rather achieves the purpose of cooling by transferring heat. During cooling, the air conditioner also releases heat of equal energy.

The refrigeration process of air conditioning requires the compressor to provide circulating energy, and requires external cooling fans and internal fans to conduct heat exchange.

After understanding the principle of air conditioning refrigeration, you can understand the reasons why air conditioning does not cool:

1. Air conditioning lines leak, causing refrigerant loss, which prevents heat transfer.

2. Compressor fault, unable to circulate refrigerant.

3. The fan is malfunctioning and cannot be heat exchanged.

These problems are easy to solve, such as adding refrigerant, repairing the compressor, and replacing the fan. But how can we solve the problem of air conditioning that works but is not cool enough?

Generally, poor cooling effect is mainly caused by poor heat dissipation. In this case, cleaning the condenser and replacing the air conditioning filter can probably solve the problem.

Another situation is that there is too much or too little refrigerant, and the refrigerant cannot be vaporized/liquefied normally, resulting in an insignificant cooling effect. At this time, add an appropriate amount of refrigerant according to the vehicle requirements.

In addition, the expansion valve is blocked and damaged, resulting in the inability to control the refrigerant flow rate, which can also lead to poor cooling effect.
